Microsoft Dynamics GP 2018 is now available with a ton of new and updated features. Here at MIG, we want to provide you with an overview of everything GP 2018 has to offer. This is part 1 of our 7-part series, “What’s New in Dynamics GP 2018?” In this post, we’ll discuss the new platform and systemwide functionalities rolled out in the latest version of Microsoft Dynamics GP.
System manager login
When using version GP 9 or earlier, for security purposes, there were user classes with a menu where you would login and enter a password. This would only have to be done once. However, in the more recent versions of GP, whenever you’d go to a system setup menu item, you’d have to type in the system password again, which many users found cumbersome. Luckily, in GP 2018, this minor annoyance has been remedied. Now, when you go to one of the system setup menu options, you enter the password once and you will no longer be required to re-enter it, as long as you are in the system. If you leave and come back in, you will need to type in the password again. This small enhancement will be greatly appreciated by those who do a lot of administrative work inside GP.
Attachments
For those who enjoy the ability to attached documents within GP, Microsoft has provided more windows where you can do just that. For example, you can attach documents to posted invoices via the inquiry window. For HR professionals, you can now attach I-9 documentation to an employee’s record, rather than having to go to the main employee maintenance window.
GP 2018 also includes additional master record items, new transaction windows, and new items such as the inquiry window. For example, the general ledger transaction entry window now features receivables and the asset general information window. Then from the inquiry side, you have employee, I-9, customer, vendor and two different project inquiries.
The system manager login and document attachments are features that have been highly requested by Dynamics GP users. These handy updates will save your organization administrative time, while greatly enhancing the GP user experience.
