To refresh your memory, Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013, which is scheduled for release in Q4, will support a cloud-based architecture. There will be a Web Client for giving users browser access to GP functions, and the Client will complement (but not replace) the desktop app. Think of the Dynamics GP Web Client as similar in scope to the browser app currently available in Dynamics CRM 2012.
Though it can “work” on other browsers, the Dynamics GP Web Client is only certified for Internet Explorer 8 and 9. This means that the SilverLight plug-in is required. The ultimate goal is to make the Web Client experience similar to the desktop version.
You will, for example, have the familiar MS Dynamics GP ribbon running across the top of a Dynamics GP’s browser page. SilverLight will also help support the graphing capabilities in Business Analyzer. Another native function they’ve matched in the Web Client is the ability to launch and view multiple windows from within a single browser window – similar in spirit to multiple windows from a single desktop Dynamics GP app.
In other words, you won’t have to search through separate browser windows to find a session; they will be conveniently accessible from a tab in a Web Client window. It will be a great time saver!
