A bunch of new features are coming with the release of Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2015 later this year. One of these new features is the ability to customize the default Microsoft Dynamics CRM Help content and extend it to cover all the custom developments you’ve added for your organization. You can replace the default Help system at a global level or at an entity (record type) level. Replacing at a global level can prove useful if you have a highly customized system and you want to completely replace Help. The implementation is very simple in either case.
To enable custom Help, select the “Use custom Help for customizable entities” option, and then enter the URL where you are hosting your customized Help. Now, when a user clicks the Help button from any entity record or grid, a new tab will open that displays your custom Help.
To make your Help system more dynamic, you can append parameters to your URL. For example, you could redirect all Help to a global custom Help URL and display different pages based on the Entity Name parameter. You can also access parameters for Language Code, Entry Point, or Form ID.
To replace the default Help system at the entity level, first enable custom Help through the System Settings dialog box, then go to Settings > Customizations > Customize the System and select the entity you want to create custom Help for. Then select the “Use custom Help” check box and enter a Help URL. Now, when a user clicks the Help button for that entity, your custom Help will be displayed.
