If you prefer using an iPad to a laptop, Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online has a feature for you. The Apple iPad is not supported by the on-premises deployment of Microsoft Dynamics CRM, but Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online does support the iPad for those CRM Online users who choose to install the product updates. This feature was designed for iPad users who need to get work done on the road, such as sales representatives on sales calls.
For iPad access, Microsoft has eliminated popup windows from the user interface and made Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online easier to use with the touch screen. You log in to CRM Online through a web browser with an iPad just as you would with a laptop or desktop computer, and you can access most of the functionality of CRM Online, but there are some limitations.
With an iPad, the Navigation pane on the left includes only the following:
- What’s new
- Account
- Contact
- Lead
- Opportunity
- Dashboards
You can navigate to other forms, but only via Mobile Express for Microsoft Dynamics CRM. You can make some edits in Mobile Express, but it’s not for high-volume work. Customized forms always open in Mobile Express, and they show up in a very basic layout, without your customizations.
With an iPad, you cannot edit records in bulk, but you can edit them individually. You cannot resize a chart, but you can minimize and maximize it.
But again, most of the functionality of Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online can be accessed with an iPad. More and more people are working on the go these days, and making CRM Online available to the device of your choice has been a Microsoft priority in recent years.
