In anticipation of the release of Microsoft Dynamics GP, Microsoft Dynamics GP 2015 R2, which was released on Monday, we’ve been looking at some of the new features that will be delivered. In our last few entries, we’ve looked at the following new features:
- All-in-one document viewer for purchasing
- Payables transaction approval workflow
- Employee self-service access to their W2
- Scriptable provisioning and management
- Analytical accounting transaction lists
Today we’re going to cover these new features:
- Self service user tasks and roles
- SmartList Designer SQL view
- SmartList Designer view workflow type
Self Service User Tasks and Roles
A new self service user type has been added to the Microsoft Dynamics GP 2015 R2 release, and this user type will give users that only require very limited access to the system a less expensive option to perform tasks such as entering payroll time, entering project time and expenses, or creating a requisition. This new user type feature also includes employee self service security roles and the ability to filter on security tasks available for each user type, which will make the task and role assignment more efficient.
SmartList SQL View and Workflow Type
Within SmartList Designer, a user will now be able to send a SmartList through workflow to create a SQL view based on a SmartList query. This SQL view can then be used outside of Microsoft Dynamics GP for such purposes as creating reports using SQL Reporting Services or Power BI reports in Excel. The view will also enable a user to publish the SmartList as a refreshable Excel report from inside of GP.
One active workflow will need to be set up in order for the SQL view to go through the approval process. SmartList workflows will be set up under the Administration series within the Workflow Maintenance window.
