The 2015 Microsoft Dynamics GP year-end release, due any day now for the U.S., will be available for Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 and Microsoft Dynamics GP 2015. Canada will have to wait a couple weeks more. Both the Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 and Microsoft Dynamics GP 2015 releases are MSP files. These files are cumulative: all prior service packs, hotfixes, compliance updates, and year-end updates are included in the most recent release. So the most recent update for Microsoft Dynamics GP 2015, as an example, includes R2. The update must be installed on all servers and workstations that have a Microsoft Dynamics GP installation, or you’ll have a version error when you launch Microsoft Dynamics GP.
Be sure to back up the DYNAMICS database and all company databases prior to installing the year-end update. Export all modified reports and forms to package files, and make backup copies of the .DIC files for the modified reports and forms. Be sure that you have a working backup of any eConnect PRE and POST Procedures if they are customized. Microsoft recommends that you configure a test environment to test the upgrade prior to installing it in the live environment.
The user running the MSP update must have local administration rights on the workstation or server operating system where the update is installed. When installing the update on the first machine, there are two components to install:
- Upgrade the application.
- Upgrade DYNAMICS and all company databases, as well as all reports and forms, in Microsoft Dynamics GP Utilities.
